The North-West Association of Governance Advisory Services (NWAGAS) covers a large region and consists of members from a variety of backgrounds including local authorities, diocesan boards, MAT Boards and independent members. The diverse membership provides a wealth of experience, support and a range of collective views to improve the effectiveness of governance across the North-West. The group manages its termly meetings to provide CPD and networking in the morning and formal business in the afternoon.
Members of NWAGAS are committed to the provision of diverse, robust and effective services to those responsible for the governance of all types of educational establishment in the state sector, in fulfilling their role in securing the best outcomes for children and young people across the region.
NWAGAS works to:
- influence national policy associated with governance issues through membership of the National Association of Governance Advisory Services (NAGAS);
- identify common themes and issues emerging from the group and use these to inform local and national priorities;
- provide representatives from the group to attend NAGAS meetings to share views on emerging local and national issues and to ensure the outcomes of those meetings are communicated with NWAGAS members in a timely and appropriate manner;
- support the continuous improvement of regional governance support;
- encourage and support the professional development of all individual members;
- disseminate good practice in all areas of governance support;
- share resources, information and good practice.
